Reproductive organs — every name pairs with one function
Testes make sperm cells and testosterone; the scrotum holds them outside the body cavity where it is cooler; the sperm duct carries sperm to the urethra; the prostate adds fluid to form semen; the urethra and penis deliver it. Ovaries make egg cells and oestrogen; the oviduct carries the egg and is the usual site of fertilisation; the uterus receives an implanting embryo; the cervix is the muscular neck into the vagina. Learn the pairs, never the names alone.
Fertilisation, puberty hormones and the cycle
Fertilisation is the fusion of the nucleus of a sperm cell with the nucleus of an egg cell, forming a zygote. At puberty testosterone (from the testes) drives male secondary sexual characteristics and oestrogen (from the ovaries) drives female ones. Across roughly 28 days the ovary matures and releases one egg at ovulation, while the uterus lining thickens and, with no implantation, is shed as menstruation. Two organs changing together, for different reasons.
(Extended) Sperm swims, egg nourishes
Sperm adaptations all serve delivery: a flagellum to swim, many mitochondria in the mid-piece releasing energy to power it, and an acrosome of digestive enzymes to break through the jelly coat. Egg adaptations serve the zygote: plenty of cytoplasm holding food and energy stores, and a jelly coat that changes once one sperm has fused so no second sperm enters. Both nuclei are haploid. Sperm are tiny, motile, made in millions; eggs are large, non-motile, about one per cycle.

Ovary is not the female gamete
The ovary is the organ that produces gametes; the egg cell (ovum) is the gamete itself. "Name the female gamete" wants egg cell or ovum — "ovary" scores zero, and "ovule" is a plant structure, not a human one. Before answering, check whether the question asks for the organ or for the cell it makes, and give the matching term.

"Sperm meets egg" is not fertilisation
Fertilisation is the fusion of the nucleus of a sperm cell with the nucleus of an egg cell. Two words carry the mark: fusion, and nucleus. "The sperm and egg join", "the sperm enters the egg" or "they meet in the oviduct" all describe the event without stating that the nuclei fuse, so they earn nothing.

Haploid is not a sperm adaptation
"Explain how a sperm cell is adapted" wants structures tied to jobs: flagellum to swim, many mitochondria for the energy that powers it, acrosome enzymes to digest the jelly coat. Saying only that the sperm nucleus is haploid while the zygote is diploid is true but answers a different question, and leaves most of the marks unclaimed.

Testes is not testosterone
The testes are the organ; testosterone is the hormone they release. The same split runs on the female side — ovaries are the organ, oestrogen is the hormone. Swapping an organ name for a hormone name (or the reverse) is marked as the wrong term, not a near miss, so read whether a structure or a chemical is wanted.
Ovulation is not menstruation
Ovulation is the release of a mature egg cell from an ovary, around the middle of the cycle. Menstruation is the breakdown and loss of the thickened uterus lining, at the start of the next cycle. Different organ, different event, different day — candidates who blur the two end up placing the bleeding at ovulation.
One vague function for every organ
Each structure earns its own mark for its own job, so "helps make babies" or "carries sperm" repeated down a list scores once at best. The sperm duct carries sperm from a testis to the urethra; the urethra carries semen out through the penis; the prostate adds fluid to form semen. Distinct wording for distinct structures.
Match the command word
"Identify" or "name" wants the term alone. "State the function of" wants one sentence tying the structure to what it does. "Explain how X is adapted for Y" wants structure, mechanism and benefit — a bare list of parts gains the recall mark only.
Label diagrams with exact terms
Labels are marked on precise wording: "oviduct", not "tube"; "sperm duct", not "tube from the testes"; "cervix", not "lower uterus". Draw the testes outside the body cavity inside the scrotum, and show the oviduct opening near the ovary rather than fused onto it.
Name, function, then mechanism
Answer every structure question in that order: the exact term, its specific job, then — only if the command word is "explain" — the mechanism joining them. "The flagellum whips from side to side, propelling the sperm towards the egg" is a mechanism; "it helps the sperm move" is not.
Menstrual cycle: cover both organs
A "describe the changes" answer must cover the ovary (an egg matures and is released) and the uterus lining (thickens, then breaks down without implantation). One organ only caps the marks. Naming FSH, LH or progesterone is not required at 0654 and earns nothing on its own.

Out of scope for B15.4 (do not use): zygote-to-embryo cell division, implantation detail, the placenta/umbilical cord, amniotic fluid, birth, contraception, sexually transmitted infections, and the named sex hormones (FSH/LH/progesterone) that control the menstrual cycle — the current syllabus does not require this detail here.
