Microprocessor-controlled device
A microprocessor is a single chip doing a computer's processing. A microprocessor-controlled ("smart") device embeds one with sensors, so it senses a condition and automatically controls an action rather than the user doing every step. Home: robotic vacuum, smart fridge tracking contents, fitness tracker. Transport: engine management controlling fuel injection, adaptive cruise control, satellite navigation. Network connectivity adds remote control — and the risk.
Home effects — the four themes
Lifestyle/leisure, physical fitness, data security and social interaction — each argues both ways. A robotic vacuum frees leisure time but breeds over-reliance; a fitness tracker motivates activity while remote-controlled curtains cut incidental movement; a smart camera alerts to intruders but is a hackable endpoint into the home; a video doorbell keeps family in contact while app time displaces face-to-face talk. Marks come from device + effect + reason.
Autonomous vehicles — safety and data
An autonomous vehicle uses a microprocessor and sensors to control steering, speed and braking with no driver. Safety gain: human error — fatigue, distraction, drink-driving, slow reaction — is removed, and reaction is consistent. Safety loss: a malfunction (misreading a road marking in poor weather) goes uncorrected with nobody ready to intervene, and liability is unclear. It transmits location and driving data: movements can be tracked, control systems attacked.

Echoing the stem is not an answer
The report records candidates answering the microprocessor-device health/fitness question by repeating the stem back — "health and fitness" — which restates the question and scores nothing. It also rejects "microwaves give off radiation that causes cancer": a device is named, but no accurate, specific link to fitness follows. Name a device, state the effect, give the reason.

A benefit is not an advantage
"A smart thermostat is convenient" is a benefit — it never says convenient compared with what. An advantage carries a comparative: "more convenient than adjusting the heating in every room by hand". The same applies to safety: "it is safer" is too weak, while "reacts faster and more consistently than a distracted driver" genuinely compares.
Smart device ≠ autonomous vehicle
Every autonomous vehicle is microprocessor-controlled, but not every such device is autonomous. A smart thermostat senses one condition and controls one output; an autonomous vehicle combines camera, radar and GPS to make the full range of driving decisions. Do not write up driver assistance such as cruise control, where the human still steers, as full autonomy.
Device effects ≠ prolonged-use harm
This sub-topic is the effect of owning and using a microprocessor-controlled device — a fitness tracker raising activity, a robotic vacuum lowering it. Eye strain, RSI, back problems and headaches from prolonged screen use belong to the separate health sub-topic, along with electrocution and fire. Offering those here answers a different question.
Social interaction ≠ data security
A social-interaction question is about contact between people: a video doorbell or voice assistant making it easier to speak to family, or app time pulling attention away from whoever is in the room. Answering "the device could be hacked" swaps in the data-security theme and earns nothing. Check which of the four themes the question names.
"It can be hacked" with no reason
"Explain" and "describe" need the because. Give the mechanism: an internet-connected camera is a network endpoint into the home, so an attacker who breaks in can see the live footage. For a vehicle, keep the risk on the control system — interfering with steering or braking endangers the occupants — rather than drifting into a general privacy point.
Answering only one side or context
Count what the question asks for. "One positive and one negative effect for each device" needs both halves for both devices, and an evaluate question naming the home and transport needs points from both contexts. A strong single-sided answer is still only half an answer, and is capped accordingly.
Device, then effect, then because
Three parts every time. Name a real device — fitness tracker, robotic vacuum, smart thermostat, smart doorbell, autonomous vehicle — never "a smart device" or "technology". State the effect asked for. Then give the reason — that is what earns the mark, not the device name.
Comparative in, vertical line out
For advantage/disadvantage and discuss/compare, put a comparative into the sentence — "more convenient than", "faster than", "fewer errors than". Never split the answer into advantages and disadvantages columns: it prevents a real comparison and caps the marks.
Generic device names, never brands
No credit is given for a manufacturer name — a branded smart speaker, fitness tracker or car maker. Write the generic device instead: "voice assistant", "fitness tracker", "autonomous vehicle". This is on the front of the paper and repeats in the key messages every sitting.
Evaluate needs a justified conclusion
Evaluate is not a list. Weigh named, reasoned points on each side, then close with a conclusion that follows from them — for example that the benefits hold only where the device network connection is secured. A conclusion your own points do not support earns nothing.
